Punk legends\u00a0The Damned\u00a0have announced a huge UK tour taking in more than twenty towns and cities across the UK, and have revealed they are currently working on a brand new album for 2017.<\/div>\n

Celebrated as the most entertaining of the original punk bands,\u00a0The Damned\u00a0were the very first British band to release a punk single (their mighty debut ‘New Rose’, released on 22nd\u00a0October 1976), the first to release an album (\u201977\u2019s Damned Damned Damned<\/em>) and also the first to tour America. From the very first moment they started playing live in tiny punk clubs in \u201976,\u00a0The Damned\u00a0quickly gained a reputation as a band who would always deliver an accomplished live set.<\/p>\n

To cap their incredible 40th\u00a0Anniversary year, which has already seen the band play a memorable set at\u00a0Coachella Festival, where\u00a0The\u00a0LA Times\u00a0<\/em>raved; “The Damned’s no-future UK punk thrash sounded gritty\u00a0and immediate”\u00a0and\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0<\/em>claimed their set as “One Of The 20 Best Things We Saw”. \u00a0The band\u00a0<\/em>also\u00a0delivered a blistering three-hour show at a completely sold-out\u00a0London Royal Albert Hall\u00a0in the summer.\u00a0The Damned\u00a0will play across the UK this winter on dates listed below where they will be playing their legendary debut album ‘Damned Damned Damned’ in full, plus a career-spanning retrospective set.<\/p>\n

Following a new film documentary on The Damned,\u00a0‘Don’t You Wish That We Were Dead’<\/a>, directed by\u00a0Wes Orshoski\u00a0(Lemmy), released in 2015 to much acclaim, BMG Music will release a new 40th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary\u00a0Art Of The Album\u2019<\/em>CD, digital and heavyweight vinyl LP special-edition of the band\u2019s classic debut album,\u00a0Damned Damned Damned<\/em>,\u00a0complete with extensive new sleeve notes, in February 2017.<\/p>\n

Always unforgettable,\u00a0The Damned\u00a0continue to wave the flag for originality, stick two fingers up to mediocrity and celebrate a DIY punk ethos in the face of plastic entertainment and scripted reality. Original members\u00a0David Vanian\u00a0and\u00a0Captain Sensible\u00a0never expected to still be doing it 40 years later, but here they are in town for one night only, as their loyal following will attest, all simply because they are still an incredible live band who sound as fresh and exciting as they did way back in 1976.<\/p>\n
