CAMILLA AISA asks some questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Emma Tricca &#039;Fortune&#039;\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uz4FmadJjWc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">If you\u2019ve read the going-up-the-country-esque <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">In The Studio<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> from issue #119\u00a0you know that over the summer <i>Shindig! <\/i>sat down with London-based singer-songwriter Emma Tricca in her late father\u2019s house in the very heart of Italy.\u00a0 Here, surrounded by olive trees, she revisited the making of a new LP she\u2019s looking forward to releasing next year. \u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I had to be courageous<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">more than in any other thing I&#8217;ve done before,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">she summed up. Laying down the foundations for the record in New York with her band \u2013 comprised of Sonic Youth\u2019s Steve Shelley, Jason Victor of The Dream Syndicate and Pete Galub \u2013, something special happened \u201cN<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">o one wants to be labelled, but we all gladly accept<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">the<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">comparisons to our heroes,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d she reflects. \u201cThis time <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I felt that there were possibilities to explore that <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">weren\u2019t just<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> framed by the the wor<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">d \u2018<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">folk<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8216;, or \u2018folk-rock\u2019.\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559685&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:0,&quot;335559737&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Pure chemistry, she calls it. \u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I didn&#8217;t even know how it happened that we found this formula. I just think that something magical happened between the four of us.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> \u201cF<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">rom <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">[2018 album] <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">St. Peter<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> to this new music<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, w<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">reached <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">another level of friendship and musicianship.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d\u00a0It\u2019s something she credits to the getting to know each other better, of course, but even to the longing that a sense of absence caused by life under Covid-19 triggered. \u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">I&#8217;m working with<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> people o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">f incredible<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> talent, I\u2019m aware, a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">nd that makes me push the boundaries of my own lack of confidence<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">;
