The answer is obvious because &#8216;Ebony &amp; Ivory&#8217; was recorded and released as a global smash hit single.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Writer and director Jim Hosking\u2019s simple synopsis for his latest feature <em>Ebony &amp; Ivory<\/em> makes it all seem so simple, but, as the trailer for the film, which opens tonight, makes it clear, this is no ordinary rock biopic. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">For <em>The Greasy Strangler<\/em> director\u2019s latest bonkers outing is one of the most unique films you\u2019ll see all year. Powered along by a score from Fuck Buttons\u2019 Andrew Hung, it\u2019s damn-near impossible to explain why this ode to the power of marijuana, veggie food and an unlikely musical partnership, further propelled by prosthetic penises, is so completely out-there. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Hosking has built a coterie of talent he frequently works with, such as McCartney and Wonder themselves, Sky Elobar and Gil Gex. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Is this, we wonder, a conscious decision? \u201cIt<\/span><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">s a conscious decision because I am conscious when I make these decisions,\u201d says Hosking, \u201cbut it really depends on the project and who knows, maybe I will switch it up big time henceforth after directing these two actors in <em>Ebony &amp; Ivory<\/em> for since then my brain appears to be composed of the same elements that comprise the Scottish mist that enshrouds Paul<\/span><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"IT\">s Scottish cottage.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7258\" src=\"https:\/\/shindig-magazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EI-Beach-1024x540.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shindig-magazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EI-Beach-1024x540.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/shindig-magazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EI-Beach-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/shindig-magazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EI-Beach-768x405.jpg 768w, https:\/\/shindig-magazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EI-Beach-1536x810.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/shindig-magazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/EI-Beach-2048x1080.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">And why Andrew Hung? \u201c[He] is an incredibly versatile talented instinctive and wonderful composer who makes film scores unlike any other and so the question is not why, but why not!\u201d<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">It\u2019s a marvel that a film such as <em>Ebony &amp; Ivory<\/em> can even get made, let alone make it to the big screen. But Hosking and co are nothing if not canny operators. \u201cIf I was trying to make it with Leonardo DiCaprio as Paul McCartney and Denzel Washington as Stevie Wonder it would be very easy to finance, but actually it was not difficult to finance because we are all consummate professionals and cut our cloth accordingly,\u201d he says, \u201cand so a film was born and that film is<em> Ebony &amp; Ivory<\/em> \u2013 put your hands together people!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"Default\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The credits make for some impressive reading \u2013 the crew includes such roles as <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Penis Prosthetics, Wig Stylist, Sheep Costumes and Frog Construction. It must make Hosking feel particularly proud.
