Herman Hitson ‘Let The Gods Sing’ – Video Premiere
Vintage singer HERMAN HITSON’s title track from his new album of psychedelic-inspired soul, Let The Gods Sing (Big Legal Mess)
Hitson has lived a wild life. Cousin of Dave Prater (of Sam & Dave), he grew up sharecropping in Georgia; grieved his cousin after his murder by white supremacists, started a doo-wop band, toured the chitlin circuit with a who’s who of headliners, befriended and collaborated with Jimi Hendrix, hung with Mohammad Ali, worked at the same radio station where Martin Luther King, Jr. used to speak on the air, fell into acid and heroin, converted to The Nation Of Islam, and released a series of “memorable 45s” (Wax Poetics) through the ‘60s and ‘70s. More recently, he has performed at the Ponderosa Stomp, joined the Music Maker Foundation artist roster, and last year hit the stage at Telluride Blues & Brews. Order the album via Big Legal Mess.
