Anyone who remembers the British heatwave of 1976 will know that it was a scorcher… although who knows what lies ahead now. Musically, that summer, now 50 years ago, was a funny one musically. Punk was on the horizon. As was disco. The genesis of both were already taking hold. Glam and singer-songwriters were still doing well, and a lot of pop still had its feet firmly planted in the ’60s. On this playlist the big-hitters are on the whole avoided, although a few appear, and the genres ebb and flow rather than sit together. Stay cool for the next four hours.
